ERT availability

Since January 2026, I am no longer able to hand out free user accounts for the Emotion Recogntion Test, due to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR 2016/679) and other privacy issues. 

The ERT is part of the online test environment by Metrisquare and can be run on any computer. For more information on the Metrisquare test platform which you need to run this test, visit this link (international) or this link (Netherlands). The platform meets all requirements for the EU GDPR and comes with a standard Standard GDPR processing agreement. Research and clinical licenses are available.

Note that the fee for getting access to this platform is used to cover the cost to maintain this platform and to continue adhering to all the GDPR regulations and ISO standards, as well as the cost for setting up a Standard GDPR processing agreement. This especially important since the ERT is used in clinics and medical research settings. 

Also note that I do not receive any money or royalties from Metrisquare and I do not have any other bussiness relation with them. I am just very happy that they continue to enable the global use of the ERT, as neither I personally nor my university has any funding to support this tool, nor the technical resources to make this tool available for safe global online use. Also note that the test itself is still and will remain free, it's just the platform and user account dashboard and the GDPR processing agreement you pay for.
